Antique Bronze Decorated Temple Bell, EBB19
From India, this bell was likely cast in the early part of the 19th century using the lost wax method. The bell has great character and its design is quite distinct when compared to Thai and Burmese bells. It has a lovely high ring tone, and possesses a complex patina. The clapper is original and bears simple decoration which is rather unusual. It shows significant wear and some oxidization. There are minor abrasions and dents evident on the surface of the bell consistent with its age, but generally the condition is very good. It is hung from a custom built stand.
