Vintage Silk Runner, Tribal Arts, Laos, LSA12
From southern Laos, this exceptional antique silk textile, or tin sin once adorned the bottom of a traditional tube skirt worn by the women of Laos. It is made of woven, hand spun cotton and embroidered with an intricate motif in rich, vibrant colours. This particular tin sin is more detailed than most and is beautifully executed. It is between 30-50 years old and in very good condition with only a few loosened threads and general wear. It would make a charming runner or wall decoration. These old silks can also be framed with dramatic effect as illustrated in the last photo of the series.
